Mountain Biking in Central Illinois?

Yep, it may sound like swimming in the desert, but there really is hope for mountain biking fans in Central Illinois. Kickapoo State Park near Danville has allowed an organized effort to clear several trails in the northeastern section of the park for the purpose of mountain biking. The Kickapoo Mountain Bike Club was formed to lead that effort and has been hard at work since 1993. To date, the KMBC has cleared about 10 miles of beautiful, single and double track trails that are both challenging and fun. The KMBC is always in need of some good ideas or just a good set of hands to help work. To find out more about a membership, Go Here.

Funding Restored For Kickapoo

The Illinois lawmakers have overturned the closing of Kickapoo State Park on Nov. 21, 2008. Kickapoo was one of the few saved from closure. Near by Weldon Springs and Moraine View State Parks were not saved. Thanks to everyone who helped keep Kickapoo open.
